Exposing Mythology: Guest Blog Interlude

Just a short note to point out that others are exposing their own myths. It's healthy. But, as Jerod pointed out to me, exposing and slaying our mythological dragons is only good if they are replaced by true stories. Live in truth, everyone. Read Jerod's blog.

  • What if every thought and story we express is a myth? What if the ultimate myth is humanity's belief that they say anything which is True? What if any myth I hold can only be replaced by new myths?
Could there be significance to just trying to construct something we know is a new myth that is just more meaningful and good than the old myths?

  • post_fidelitas: I think the answers to your questions lie in the questions themselves. You're acting on an assumption that your questions have some truth in them, some position by which you're able to question. So it seems to me that a controlling story is necessary, it's inescapable.

As to your question on constructing new myths to replace old ones, you're right. All we can do is replace old stories with new ones.

I think you're trying to emphasize the journey over the destination. We're all operating out of subjectivity. I resonate with that a lot but I also hold that destination matters. Your questions beg that they do. Good thoughts.
