Go Go Gadget Flute!

Q: What's the difference between a flute and a lawn mower?
A: You can tune a lawn mower.

Q: What is the range of a flute?
A: About twenty yards if you have a good arm.

Q: How do you get two flute players to play in tune?
A: Shoot one.

Okay, now that I have that out of my system, I can say some positive things about flute playing. Though I have a natural disdain for the instrument, this video is pretty darn cool. What doesn't youtube have?

  • Sparky-
One has to wonder the quantity of time that you spend searching out such odd treasures. Surely there are better things to explore?

  • What!?! I thought we eradicated this prejudice of yours. Do you just miss me so much that you're trying to bait me to return early for revenge? Well, it won't work. I'm onto your schemes!

  • I don't know if there are better things to explore Mr. Johnson. That was one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

  • Did you search YouTube? He has a few more. The Sesame St. one is pretty cool cause you see him playing on the street. I thought he was an old acquaintance of mine, but it turns out their jazz style and facial features are just similar, not a match. Thanks for the entertainment though!

  • Dude.

I think that my 3 and a half minutes were so well-spent watching that video that I shouldn't have to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

  • The fact that it takes a virtuoso flutist (or flautist, take your pick) brilliantly playing the theme song from a well-loved cartoon in order to impress us simply reinforces Tim's original point regarding the flute.

That said, I'm happy to gush over his playing as well.

  • I second Chris' thoughts. I can call it a day now. That was awesome! My favorite kind of musician, one who starts in the box and finds his way outside of it, redefining what can be done with an instrument.

Was that the Axel theme from Beverly Hills Cop blended in the middle of the Inspector Gadget theme? Loved it. Thanks Tim.
